What You Can Expect

Your first appointment will be comprehensive, so you should plan to spend at least two hours with us. Please arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment to review a few forms and complete any lab work your doctor has prescribed.

Every effort will be made to explain your diagnosis and initial treatment plan during your first visit. However, sometimes a follow-up visit is necessary for this. Most likely, chemotherapy treatment will not begin on your initial visit.

Treatment plans can be complex, so you may find it helpful to bring another person with you. We also encourage you and your family to ask questions about any information that is not clear or that you want to learn more about.

Your initial appointment may include:

  • A comprehensive meeting and evaluation with your physician
  • Tests needed for an accurate diagnosis that will guide your treatments
  • A meeting with your nurse and other members of your medical team
  • A meeting with your financial counselor to discuss your insurance and billing
